The problem with using comedy in your magic show The common thread of probably the most successful TV/Film celebrity magicians that had wild success because they made people believe what they did was real and not a magic trick. Comedy magicians are great but the reason why most comedy magicians don’t become as famous as these guys (in general) is because once they tell a joke, boom, audiences now put you in the silly magic trick box. So there’s a cost with doing comedy. As powerful as comedy is, there’s a downside. People stop taking you seriously. Before Hitchcock was Houdini, the master of suspense. First Magic Post

Testing First Magic Post. “Get your cameras out.” Magic is a really tough sell. For people to really enjoy they need to buy into it and surrender. Can you imagine going to a concert and the vocalist are using auto-tune without you knowing. It’s rigged you say! There cheating and people think magic is a form of cheating too. I believe the job of the magician is to find ways to make the audience have a surrender, much like a captivating movie. They know its fake but the emotional impact of the art outweighs it.
